GOLDEN RETRIEVER PUPPY?

I am getting a golden retriever for my 14th birthday and I'm stuck between getting either a puppy or dog. I think I'll go with puppy, however; Now I understand ALL the responsibility that comes with this; a puppy is basically like another baby. I am prepared for the training and the cries in the night and all the accidents to clean up, and most importantly I made sure my parents were too. Why a puppy? I want to raise it to become the best dog it can be. I don't want to have it recover from any bad past incident; I want it to reflect instead on what a happy life it's had. And I am prepared to spoil it; by the age of 14 I'll get a part time job in the summer and right now I'm only 12 and am already saving up my $20 a week allowance. My parents know I don't ask for much and don't spend much, either so they don't mind a dog; plus my dad's a goner when he sees those adorable furry faces. Anyway, enough about that; it was just to push away any thoughts of a young girl way in over her head. My question is what supplies would you recommend? Grooming, toys, food, treats, and anything for shedding? Gentle enough for a puppy?
No, don't worry, I mean spoil my dog with toys and love, not treats. I don't want him getting fat!

And thanks for reminding me dogs live in the present; I got so caught up in the idea of a puppy. I will make sure to visit the shelters and see if there's any furry friend to my liking.

Golden retriever experts please help?

Im gonna get a golden retriever puppy soon.. I know 1. they need two sets of exercise a day for 20-30 mins each 2. they are loyal, loving, smart and sweet. 3. they shed alot but mostly in fall and spring. I have some questions though.. 1. what supplies for puppy? 2. How much do the puppies eat? 3. Housetraining tips? 4. what kind of collar? 5. good with small dogs like yorkies? Hi, I have been looking for the perfect breed of dog and the one i made my mind up about is the golden retriever. Yes, I have had one before but we had to get rid-of him because we were moving. but I made sure he was in a loving home. He was the best thing that ever happened to me. I cried for 2 months straight!! I just want another golden retriever puppy in my life again. I promise to give him all the love and care it could ever ask for. I'll take her on walks,feed her the right foods WITHOUT corn or by-products. I will only need for the dog to be cheaper NOT because I can't afford it, but because ( you might think its crazy but I don't I like to spoil my doggy! = ]) I was planning on spending a little more than 100$ on supplies and toys. please let me know if you are selling golden retriever puppies cheap or if you know someone who is. I will be purchasing a pure breed Golden Retriever puppy 7/08/2007. I have searched high and low for the best prices. Walmart has some pretty cheap stuff. What are all the dog supplies i need?

I will be getting a 5 month old Golden Retriever soon. What are all the supplies do i need? and i mean EVERYTHING. From grooming,food,treats,toys,crate,dog house, dog bed, ect.. I Would like to have ALL of his stuff before i take him home. So that i can just devote my time to him, and not go crazy shopping once he's arrived.

Not only generalize, but what would you recommend on a certain type of food? or treat? or your pet's favorite toy? ect...

My Golden Retriever Has suddenly developed a large malodorous ulcerated lesion?

ulcerated lesion to the anterior aspect of his neck.I am taking him to the vet in the am.Being an er nurse,this seems to be more than a simple skin lesion ie staph infection.I am worried it may be some sort of a malignancy .This lesion was not there Wednesday when he was bathed.Developed and noted on Thursday.He has had no injuy or trauma.I realize no one can dx without seeing.I'm just a worried dog mom.Any info anyone can supply would help.Do Cancerous lesions in dogs smell?
